Iris, messenger of the gods

Iris, daughter of Thaumas and the Oceanid Electra, is known primarily as the messenger of the gods—specifically of Zeus and Hera. Her beauty was such that she became a handmaiden to the Queen of Olympus, for whom she carried messages and performed various services.
